Carlos Fontan is the manager and agronomist of Finca Santa Elisa, he manages the farm on behalf of Coex Guatemala.
Carlos got involved in the world of coffee farming thanks to his Dad, who is also an Agricultural Engineer, who brought him along to coffee farms since he was little and he was able to get to know a little about the jobs that have to be done in the year.

Since then, Carlos has worked as an Agricultural Engineer and Agronomist carrying out technical visits on farms owned by independent producers; now as administrator of this farm here in Guatemala, he has been able to get involved in many things about the world of specialty coffee such as nurseries, warehouses, field work, tastings, processes of specialty coffees.

The farm according to the story, is named SANTA ELISA for the Virgin of this sector.
On the farm Carlos identified many arabica varieties growing including Sampacho, Sarchimor, Marsellesa, Tekisic, Bourbon, Geisha, H-1, Villa Sarchi, Caturra, and Catuai.

On account of this diversity the farm has huge potential in the world of speciality coffees, for which it has had national recognition in the cup of excellence. The objective of opting for speciality coffees is for people to see that Guatemala coffee farms if well managed can deliver both productivity and amazing quality.
